Mastering The Art of the Podcast Interview

Publishing & Marketing Seminar

Friday

Time TBD

June 14, 2024

Pacific Ballroom

464.7 million people listen to podcasts. If you want to promote your book, podcasts are a great way to reach appropriate, desired, and new audiences. Potential readers will be listening to your podcast interview, which will live forever on the web.

Preparation is the key to a successful interview. Learn how to do justice to your book, because you can’t ask the producer for a do-over in the morning. Don't expect to wing it.  Good interviewers may have the skills to quickly build the necessary trust, but be ready, because they are prepared to drill down into your process, your background, and your style. They will ask tough questions. Learn how to be ready.

Topics covered:

• The key principles of a good interview in general and a podcast specifically
• What can go wrong in a podcast and what can go right
• Ways to prepare yourself for a successful podcast interview.

Demonstration:

Dr Phillips will demonstrate how to conduct an interview with 1 or more participants. In the debriefing after the role play exercise, the group will review how effectively the author-participant did justice to the book and offer suggestions for  how to improve. Each person will leave with a worksheet with a list of tips.
